Description
Proportion of patients with localised stage IA-IIB non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (PS0-2) planned for curative surgery or stereotactic radiotherapy. A curative treatment aims to cure the disease, unlike treatments that aim to prolong life or reduce symptoms and/or pain. Localized cancer means that the disease is in one place, and not spread in the body. In surgery, which is the most important curative treatment, the tumors are surgically removed. Sometimes the tumors are located in a place where it is not possible to operate, and then radiation therapy is an option. In stereotactic radiation therapy, a high-precision radiation dose is directed to the tumor to provide minimal radiation to the rest of the body. For the key figure, the National Lung Cancer Registry has set a higher target level of 90% and a lower target level of 79%.
