Breast cancer cases detected during screening, percentage (%) - Target level ≥ 70
Description
Proportion of breast cancer cases among women 40-74 years of age where the tumour was detected during screening. Breast cancer patients who have been diagnosed at an early stage have greater chances of survival and opportunities for breast-preserving surgery are increasing, while the need for chemotherapy in the aftermath is likely to decrease. The National Breast Cancer Quality Registry has set a higher target level for the indicator of 70% and a lower level of 60%.
