Groundwater Chemistry and Water Table Depth Time Series in Ramotswa, Botswana

Description

Monitoring and production borehole data from Ramotswa Botswana, including: groundwater chemistry, borehole GPS points, groundwater dissolved gases, and rainwater chemistry. Data collected in Oct. 2016, Nov. 2016, Jan. 2017, and Feb. 2017. These data are used in a open-access Hydrogeology Journal article (link below), which also includes more information on sample collection and analysis methods.

21 Rainwater collected in clean bucket in Gaborone. Filtered and refrigerated before analysis. All concentrations in mg/L. Analyzed at WaterLab in Pretoria, South Africa. https://data.usaid.gov/d/828y-ynhz
21 Monitoring and production borehole GIS coordinates. Datum WGS84. https://data.usaid.gov/Water-Supply-and-Sanitation/Groundwater-Chemistry-in-Ramotswa-Botswana-GPS-Bor/k9xc-geyh
21 Date of analysis 17 March 2017. Analyzed at Kellogg Biological Station Long Term Ecological Research Lab. Each sample is 10 mL of gas in a 3mL glass vial. The 10 mL of gas comes from 30 mL of groundwater shaken with 30 mL of air for 5 minutes inside a gas tight syringe. https://data.usaid.gov/d/2nzy-5z2x
21 Groundwater chemistry measurements from boreholes in October 2016, November 2016, January 2017, and February 2017 (nitrate, fecal coliforms, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, pH, dissolved organic carbon, sulfate, chloride, ammonium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese). https://data.usaid.gov/Water-Supply-and-Sanitation/Groundwater-Chemistry-in-Ramotswa-Botswana-Groundw/i7e4-fnzi
