Description
As a result of an amendment to the Public Health Collective Prevention Act (WCPV), the municipalities have become responsible for Youth Health Care (JGZ) for 0-19 year olds with effect from 1 January 2003 and are therefore obliged to carry out the basic statutory tasks. Influenced by the adoption of the basic JGZ tasks and the changing policy at national, regional and local level, the GGD Groningen has worked on a reassessment of the working method of youth health care for 4 to 19-year-olds.
The aim of the JGZ policy is ‘to protect and promote the health of young people so that everyone as a young person and as an adult can function optimally individually and socially’.
In the school year 2002-2003, the GGD Groningen experimentally introduced the newly developed method at a number of schools in Hoogezand-Sappemeer, Stadskanaal and Groningen by means of a pilot. The Emergency Service (HVD) of the municipality of Groningen has commissioned Bureau Onderzoek to investigate the experiences with this new method at various schools.
The central question of this study is: To what extent have the activities been carried out according to plan? How is the implemented programme assessed by schools, parents and external cooperation partners?
