Description
Volunteering makes an important contribution to social infrastructure, promotes social cohesion and prevents exclusion of citizens. A lot of work wouldn't be done if there weren't volunteers.
A study by POLS (Permanent Research Living Situation) shows that 45 percent of the Dutch population in 2007 does volunteer work in one way or another. This does not include people who provide informal help. For example, neighbor help or help to a family member.
