Comparative sustainability assessment of the 25 largest cities in the Netherlands

In the case of forms of integrated assessment of cities, the question always arises against which yardstick the results are valued. If it is the city's own goals, to which the city has the most commitment, then the results of the cities cannot be compared with each other.
If a uniform set of sustainability goals is used, the cities are theoretically comparable, but no account is taken of the level of effort that a city makes.
In order to gain more insight into what a comparative scoring method raises in terms of possibilities and problems, Telos conducted a finger exercise with the 25 largest cities in the Netherlands. In doing so, Telos applied the method it developed for making a sustainability balance of a city as well as possible and, as mentioned, formulated uniform sustainability goals itself. Normally Telos does this together with the city council and customization and commitment of the board and preferably all actors in the city are paramount to the objectives.
