Science Parks Innovation or Image?

Almost two-thirds of entrepreneurs at a science park think that this concept does not really yield much in terms of innovations. They see it as a good way to profile themselves. However, the possible relationships with knowledge institutions and other companies have little or no value for them. These research results will be presented by Jacques van Dinteren, Professor of Economic Geography at the University of Groningen, at the congress of the International Association of Science and Technology Parks in Copenhagen (19-22 June).
The results are quite contradictory to the design of science parks, which should stimulate innovation in particular. A stricter admission policy should therefore be discussed. Van Dinteren's research concerns six Dutch science parks.
