Description
The municipality of Groningen wants to add a mix of cultural and commercial functions to the Grote Markt in order to make the area more attractive. Part of the plan is to move the east face of the market forward so that the original character of the market is restored.
The current above-ground parking garage Naberpassage will be demolished to create space for the Groninger Forum, a new cultural facility including an expansion of film theater Images, exhibition space for the Groninger Museum and the city library. Between the Forum and the renewed east wall, the New Market will be constructed.
Grontmij / Parkconsult was asked to answer the following two questions:
* What is the dimensioning of the new parking garage, taking into account the current parking needs and the new functions to be developed at the Groninger Forum?
* What is the connection between these garages and the garages to be developed under the Damsterdiep and at Ciboga, assuming that all three garages will be operated by the municipality?
