Description
This study examines parking policy in the Netherlands. In 2005, research started on 32 parking garages in about twenty cities. The results, and in particular the reactions to the results, prompted the Platform Detailhandel Nederland to continue and expand the test annually.
The fieldwork for the National Park Test 2009 was carried out in the second half of 2008 and in the first month of 2009. 79 parking facilities were visited in 55 municipalities. This covers the whole of the Netherlands and is parked in municipalities of all shapes and sizes. Street parking has also been looked at in these municipalities.
The National Parking Test is pre-eminently a consumer survey. The Platform Detailhandel Nederland sends a person to a random municipality with the assignment to find a parking space near a shopping area as soon as possible. This parking space will then be assessed.
As in previous years, this year's car parks, parking spaces and sites were assessed against four main criteria:
Accessibility
Safety
Pay
Service
