Multi Criteria Analysis (MCA) location Helperzoomtunnel
Description
The Southern Ring Groningen (N7) will be adjusted in the coming years in the context of the
‘Approach to Ring Zuid’ (ARZ). The ring road will have uneven crossings and will be partially deepened. As a result, the current connections to the Hereweg and the Oosterpoort will disappear.
The connection to the Hereweg is designed in a different way, namely via a connection road next to the Maaslaan.
In addition to the adaptation of the southern ring road, the railway crossing at Esperantostraat (the so-called Esperanto crossing) will be discontinued. To replace the Esperanto crossing, as part of the ARZ project, a railway crossing will be realized at another location in the form of a tunnel under the railway. This tunnel is made possible from a planning point of view with an environmental permit (deviations from the zoning plan via the Wabo procedure).
For the location of the tunnel, several variants are shown
* Variant 1: in the extension of the Helperbrink;
* Variant 2: in line with the Savornin Lohmanlaan;
* Variant 3: in line with the Goeman Borgesiuslaan;
* Variant 4: south of Vestdijklaan/Esserweg.
The project organisation Aanpak Ring Zuid has requested Grontmij to carry out a multi-criteria analysis.
(MCA) to be carried out for the location balancing of the alternative rail crossing.
