Description
In most contemporary theories of social exclusion, it is assumed that multiple actors play a role. In this research, we mainly look at the role of people themselves who feel excluded, the role that their immediate environment plays in this and that of civil society organisations that have the prevention and reduction of exclusion in their tasks. We are particularly interested in the interaction between the parties.
The research was carried out in the neighbourhood De Wijert in the city of Groningen. A neighborhood where it is known that there are many minima live and where according to local residents and social institutions there is little connection with the neighborhood and with other residents.
Assuming that both individuals and (in)formal networks play a role in social exclusion, we formulate the goal of the research as follows:
1. Mapping factors that play an important role in social exclusion in De Wijert in the city of Groningen.
2. Increasing knowledge about social exclusion by having (in)formal networks and local residents come up with strategies and proposals to combat social exclusion in De Wijert.
