Description
In the course of 2009, renewed attention was paid to dog policy in the municipality of Groningen in various ways.
On the district voting day in one of the power districts, there was a vote in favour of tackling dog nuisance. Questions were also asked from other districts and the Christian Union submitted an Initiative proposal to the city council.
Since 1 May 2011, a new dog policy has been in force in the municipality of Groningen. The starting point was to achieve the best possible balance between the interests of dogs and dog owners on the one hand and of non-dog owners, plants and animals on the other. The goal of the new dog policy is threefold: better communication with residents about the rules of the game, more exit and exit areas and more attention to enforcement.
