Final report on housing construction 2007
Description
In 2004, the Groningen-Assen region, as laid down in the Housing Agreement 2005-2010 Regional Vision Groningen-Assen, agreed with the government to build more than 22,000 homes in the period 2005-2009. Based on these numbers, the BLS contribution of the government is based. The city's task in this was more than 7,800 homes.
In recent years, it has become clear that this was a high ambition for the entire region, partly because housing-construction production had to start at the time of agreement. This has gone slower than we had hoped.
Housing production has been closely monitored during this period. This led to a discussion with the Minister and the region in January 2008. During this conversation, the numbers were adjusted downwards, to 13,200 homes. It has also been agreed that an extra pot will be made available by the minister to solve bottlenecks in the housing sector.
This bottleneck pot comes on top of the agreed numbers. The revised figures are also in line with the new regional housing forecasts carried out by ABF in autumn 2007 on behalf of the province of Gronin-gen.
As a result of this, our mission statement within the regional vision has been retroactively reduced from 1350 to 1150 homes per year from 2007.
Incidentally, all this still means that we must continue to give full gas to housing production in the coming years.
