An impulse for the city centre of Groningen
Description
Although the city centre performs well according to the municipality's retail monitor (2008) and a lot has been invested in recent years, according to the municipality there is reason for an impulse. The Council decision to move the Social Affairs and Employment Service to the Europapark and the credit crisis are reasons for this.
The municipality of Groningen wants to underpin the extra impulse with a study into the development of employment in the inner city. The conclusions and recommendations of the study should guide the measures and implementation projects to stimulate and maintain employment in the inner city. This report presents the results of the study. Given the municipality's policy, it focuses not only on the inner city, but also on the shell areas and entrance areas that are functionally and/or spatially connected to it.
