Village ribbons Groningen
Description
The plan area consists of four ribbon villages on the east side of Groningen, namely (from north to south) Noorderhoogebrug, Ruischerbrug, Middelbert and Engelbert.
A new zoning plan is being drawn up for the ribbon villages. The current zoning plan is outdated and offers too little development space for the residents of the ribbons. This concerns on the one hand building initiatives on existing plots, but on the other hand also requests for filling in open spaces in the ribbon villages.
In this urban design concept vision, a spatial analysis of each ribbon village is included with strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
For Noorderhoogebrug and Ruischerbrug, the desired structure has been described for the medium term on the basis of a map image and explanatory texts.
For Middelbert and Engelbert, the future is closely linked to the development of Meerstad.
That is why treasure maps have been included for these ribbons that show the spatial values in and around these ribbons as input for the future further developments of Meerstad. The vision as a whole serves as the basis for the zoning plan to be produced.
