The Future of Cauliflower Districts
Description
Relatively little research has been done into the typical Dutch residential districts, built during the height of Dutch construction production. This is despite the fact that one and a half million homes in the Netherlands were built between 1970 and 1985. With this publication, the SEV wants to give a first impetus to knowledge transfer: from the ideas behind the design to the current experience of the physical and social aspects of the residential areas, the management task and possible solutions. Previously carried out research by Atlas for Municipalities, Bureau Middelkoop and SPIN Area Developers supplemented with knowledge from practice and knowledge of Cor Wagenaar, specialized in the history of architecture and urban planning, and Noor Mens, architecture historian, formed the basis for this.
Through concrete example projects and experiments from practice, (policy) employees of municipalities and corporations can work with combinations of social and physical interventions and initiatives aimed at management. The SEV likes to experiment in this as yet unexplored field.
