Description
This report is a summary of the study ‘The power of the City and Central Groningen’. Here we present the Economic thermometer, expert views and a study of the regional labour market in the working area of a new Rabobank: the Rabobank Stad en Midden Groningen, which was recently created as a result of a merger.
The research is the result of a good collaboration between the Rabobank City and Central Groningen, the Chamber of Commerce Northern Netherlands and the Knowledge and Economic Research (KEO) department of Rabobank Netherlands.
In the study, the researchers examine the economic performance of regional businesses and pay attention to the theme of the labour market. The ageing population, which has become increasingly pronounced among the Dutch population in recent years, is putting growing pressure on the labour market. In addition, companies are placing ever-increasing demands on their staff.
The competitiveness of the Dutch economy lies in high-quality and knowledge-intensive products. The North is also in the process of transitioning to a knowledge-based economy. An important condition for this transition is the presence of sufficient qualified personnel.
