Since 2001 we manage and maintain the municipal public space according to the BORG method (Public Space Management Plan Groningen). According to a quality profile, determined by the city council, we determine with this method the commitment to the management and maintenance of the
Maintaining public space.
Until 2017, a citizen's fireplace took place every year, in which residents of our municipality checked on the street to what extent various parts such as pavements, greenery and trees and street furniture met the quality profile.
From 2018 we have started a new way of viewing: Members of the Population Panel complete a digital survey twice a year, assessing the public space on the basis of sample photographs.
Because residents are not professional spectators, in addition to the online survey, we have a spectator carried out by an independent external company. The results of both studies provide a good picture of the quality of management and maintenance in the territories.
