Benchmark Municipal Business Environment
Description
In an open world economy, EZ realizes the conditions for a prosperous, sustainable and entrepreneurial Netherlands. In a world where borders disappear and people, capital, information and products move more and more easily, the Netherlands must be the place to work, to do business and to live.
In order to facilitate and stimulate companies optimally, a good business environment is crucial. One of the policy instruments that EZ uses to improve the business environment is the policy on large cities, in particular through the economic domain.
The Big Cities Policy (GSB) is elaborated in a large number of policy goals, including the strengthening of the economic structure of cities.
The cities have developed these goals in multi-annual development programmes (MDPs).
With reference to these MAGPs, agreement was reached between the government and the cities at the beginning of 2005 on concrete output results to be achieved in 2009 in the GSB3 period from 2005 to 2009, confirmed by the conclusion of covenants. These covenants state, among other things, that the achievement of the policy objectives will be monitored over time through a baseline measurement in 2005, an intermediate measurement in 2007 and a final measurement in 2010.
