Geochemical and mineralogical data for Upper Devonian gray, black, and pyritic black shales from the Appalachian Basin

Geochemical and mineralogical characterization data was collected for samples of the Upper Devonian Hanover and Dunkirk Formations from outcrops in the Appalachian Basin (Chautauqua County, New York). The data was integrated with outcrop descriptions in a publication (see larger work) that describes the enrichment of particular trace metals and minerals in different shale types formed under different depositional conditions.
