Genome Editing — Final Report Definition of terms and issues from an environmental perspective
Description
Genome editing is currently intensively discussed at national and international level. This concerns, among other things, the legal classification of the products produced and the assessment of their risks. This report gives an overview of the different techniques of genome editing and the resulting changes in genetic material. A proposal for a definition of genome editing is also presented. The second part of the report identifies open questions arising from the discussion on a possible change in legal regulation. This includes a presentation of relevant scenarios and their respective consequences and a discussion of open questions from the areas of risk assessment, and precautionary principle. The need for action is identified.
