Gastronomic regions of Slovenia
Description
Slovenia is defined as the junction of gastronomic diversity and local tastes. The special features of the gastronomic image are based on the exceptional cultural and developmental junction of the European Alpine, Mediterranean and Pannonian regions, which over the centuries has conditioned the development and formation of specific cultural and life styles in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia today. Prof. Janez Bogataj divided Slovenia on the basis of research into 24 gastronomic regions, in which the most typical dishes of all social groups and different periods are concentrated, representing the specific gastronomic identity of Slovenia and individual regions. For the purpose of carrying out the hackathon “Cultural adventure at the palm of the hand”, the Ministry of Culture defined the regions schematically displayed in the space (by political and physical-geographical boundaries).
