It was generated from the 1 / 150,000 map made by Louis Cabioch, of the Roscoff Oceanological Observatory, and René Glaçon, of the Wimereux Marine Station, entitled "Benthic Populations of Non-Exondible Funds (Provisional Map)" in the Eastern Channel, published in 1975.
The original map was digitised in 2004 as part of the REBENT (BENThic Monitoring Network) project and is published on the REBENT website: http://www.rebent.org
