Description
Phytoplankton is one of the biological quality elements selected for the classification of the ecological status of coastal water bodies, i.e. coastal waters and non-turbid transitional waters. It is assessed on the basis of three components: biomass, abundance and composition according to the terms of the WFD.
The most recent assessment of the status of water bodies for this quality element is presented in the DCE Loire-Bretagne Atlas. Previous reports are available in annual archives.
