WFD – Artois-Picardie Basin – Ecological status – Biological status – Subtidal macroalgae
Description
The analysis focuses on monitoring macroalgae stands in coastal water bodies from the Belgian border to the Bay of Somme and assessing their biological quality.
The parameters of the quality element "subtidal macroalgae" are:
- the limits of extension in depth of the different algal belts present
- the composition and density of the species defining the staging (laminaria and other macroalgae involved in the definition of the different belts ) = structuring species
- the specific composition (characteristic species and opportunistic species)
- total specific wealth
- the study of the stipes of Laminaria hyperborea and their epibioses
Macroalgal stands are monitored in the subtidal zone. The most recent assessment of the condition of these stands is presented in the Artois-Picardie WFD Atlas. Previous statements are available in annual archives
