WFD – Artois-Picardie Basin – Ecological status – Biological status – Intertidal macroalgae
Description
The analysis focuses on monitoring macroalgae stands in coastal and transitional water bodies from the Belgian Border to the Bay of Somme and assessing their biological quality.
The index developed for the quality element takes into account:
- the contribution of each belt to the vegetation cover of a given site,
- the specific wealth of each belt in characteristic species
- and the importance of cover for opportunistic species.
Macroalgal stands are monitored in the intertidal zone. The most recent assessment of the condition of these stands is presented in the Artois-Picardie WFD Atlas. Previous statements are available in annual archives
