Description

Strategic noise maps of land transport infrastructure make it possible to represent levels of noise in the environment, but also to count the populations exposed and the education and health institutions impacted. They thus make it possible to quantify noise pollution in order to establish, as a second step, plans for the prevention of environmental noise (PPBE). These maps must be revised every 5 years, and are made according to different thresholds of circulation, passages or inhabitants called "maturities". By decree dated 4 July 2023, the Prefect of Tarn approved the 4th deadline for strategic noise maps of the department's major road infrastructure with traffic exceeding 3 million vehicles/year. This decree cancels and replaces the prefectural decree of 18 December 2018. Map-making principle: The strategic noise maps of land transport infrastructure shall be drawn up with the harmonised indicators Lden* and Ln**. *Lden: representative indicator of the average noise level over the whole 24 hours of the day. **Ln: representative indicator of the average sound level for the period from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The maps can be viewed in dynamic form according to two types: ◦ Type A cards: areas exposed to more than 55 decibels in Lden (over 24 hours) and more than 50 decibels in Ln (at night), represented by increments of five in five decibels. ◦ Type C cards: areas exposed to a noise level above the threshold of 68 decibels for the Lden indicator and above 62 decibels for the Ln indicator.
