Description
Inventory of landscape units of Normandy.
The landscape unit is the central landscape division in the construction of landscape knowledge. It is the result of the qualification and characterisation of landscapes at the overall level of the department. It designates a continuous part of a territory that is homogeneous in terms of its geomorphological, ecological, land use and perception characteristics that the inhabitants and stakeholders of the territory bear to it. This ‘given landscape’ is characterised by a set of landscape structures and landscape elements that give it its uniqueness. A landscape unit is distinguished from neighbouring landscape units by boundaries that may be clear or ‘fuzzy’.
