Description
The Risk Prevention Plans (PPR) were established by the Act of 2 February 1995 on strengthening the protection of the environment.
In 2003, serious fires took place in the Var department leading the state to prescribe 17 PPR Forest Incendies, 4 of which were on the Esterel massif: municipalities of Fréjus, Adrets de l’Estérel, Tanneron and Saint-Raphaël.
The methodology used follows the recommendations of the methodological guide developed in 2002. The hazard forest fire is defined as the probability that a forest fire of given intensity occurs in a location.
The constituent parameters of the hazard are: the nature of the fuels, the slope, the sunshine and the wind.
