Dataset Direct Download Service (WFS): Hydroelectric plants granted in Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur
Description
The PACA region is the third largest region in France in terms of installed hydropower and hydroelectric power generation (15 % of French production). Installations whose installed capacity (i.e. the product of drop height, turbinated flow and gravity) is strictly greater than 4.5 megawatts (MW) are granted by the State through a public works concession award procedure. The region has 43 concessions, of which the co-ordinating prefect is one of the prefects of the six departments (see table below).
DREAL PACA is responsible for the supervision of the concessionaires of hydroelectric installations. As such, it is responsible for the application of the concession policy (Decree No 94-894 as amended on the concession and declaration of public utility of works using hydropower), which includes the award or renewal procedure by tendering.
