The RGE ALTI® 2015 is a numerical model of gridded terrain designed to describe the French terrain. It describes the shape and elevation of the soil surface on a large scale. It is obtained through processes that ensure better quality compared to ALTI® version 1.0.
It is an interpolated representation of the surface to the ground. It is not always strictly in line with reality. It is designed for use on scales between 1: 3,000 and 1: 20 000
The RGE ALTI® 2015 is composed of:
— a numerical model of mesh terrain (MNT) whose purpose is to describe the French terrain
— two layers providing localised metadata called source qualie masks and distance.
The product RGE ALTI® 2015 is available in step of 1 m and 5 m (in its subsampled version)
It is a modeling of the relief in the form of a regular and rectangular grid, also called “altitude matrix”. The altitude of each of the nodes in this grid corresponds to the altitude of the nominal terrain at the point defined by the grid node. The pitch of this grid is identical in X and Y; its value is 1 meter or 5 meters
