Map Viewing Service (WMS) of the dataset: PPRN du Marais Audomarois — The Audomarois Marais locker model
Description
The locker model
The wired model is only valid if the river stays in its bed. If it overflows, it can no longer be regarded as a forced stream in a corridor.
The hydraulician then considers that the flood expansion field is composed of a network of traps that fill one after the other. These lockers are manufactured to have an area of about 2 km². They are bounded by existing physical obstacles such as lifts, hillsides, slopes, roads...
The connections between contiguous traps are defined by a specific analysis. They are represented by overflows, orifices or rough flows.
The behaviour of the water in the locker model is different from its behaviour in the wired model since the lockers fill one after the other.
The locker model calculates water levels and speeds for each locker using an average over the entire area of the locker.
The evolution of these data over time makes it possible to know the time of filling and emptying of the lockers.
