Description

Faced with the low consumption of fruit and vegetables among the youngest, the Ministry of Agriculture, Agri-Food and Forestry and the Ministry of National Education have joined forces to offer local authorities a weekly fruit distribution programme in the school environment, from kindergarten to high school, accompanied by educational activities. A budget allocated to France by the European Commission makes it possible to cover 76 % of the cost of purchases in order to offer once or several times a week a portion of fruit or vegetables, primarily seasonal and local, thus contributing to a better food balance and the active prevention of obesity. The distribution must be carried out within the school premises on school time or after school. The layer corresponds to the managers of the “A Fruit at Recreation” operation. A manager is the one who incurs expenses: this may be a local authority, a public or private educational institution, an organisation acting on behalf of one or more educational establishments (including an association Law 1901, a school fund, a school cooperative), any public or private body (wholesale fruit and vegetables, catering company) to manage the distribution of fruit and vegetables to schools.
