Description
The map of hazards represents the extent and intensity of floods. The main developments and structures that may have an effect on submersion conditions (roads, railways) are also included.
It has three hazard levels, which depend on the intensity of the physical parameters of the flood and translate in terms of severity for people and damage to property. These are essentially water heights and flow velocities.
The strong hazard zone essentially corresponds to areas of large flow with water heights greater than one metre or at significant speeds greater than one metre per second.
Medium and low hazard areas represent areas of expansion or even storage of floods with lesser characteristics:
— for average hazard, water heights between 0.50 m and 1 m or flow velocities between 0.5 m/s and 1 m/s;
— for low hazard, water heights of less than 0.50 m and flow velocities of less than 0.50 m/s.
