Description
The report describes topics and trends in environmental technology research at Austria’s universities and non-university research institutions. As a basis for this, the R & D surveys of Statistik Austria are evaluated and additional research and interviews carried out with relevant actors. The fifth updated evaluation is now available after 2018. Compared to 2015, the number of environmentally relevant R & D facilities fell slightly to 231 in 2017. On the other hand, the number of employees employed by research institutions has increased slightly over this period, reaching 10,315 people. This corresponds to 17 % of employees in R & D of all economic sectors. R & D activities continue to focus on climate protection, energy, waste and raw materials and resources.
