Research and development in the field of environmental technology
Description
The report describes topics and trends in environmental technology research at Austria’s universities and non-university research institutions. As a basis for this, the R & D surveys of Statistics Austria are evaluated and additional research is carried out by the relevant actors:in. The sixth updated evaluation shows the data status in 2019. Compared to 2017, the number of environmental technology-relevant R & D facilities fell slightly to 228 in 2019. The number of employees employed by the research institutions has decreased by 8.2 % during this period and is around 9,500 people. This represents 14 % of employees in R & D of all economic sectors. R & D activities continue to focus on climate protection, energy, waste and raw materials and resources (circular economy).
