Description
LEADER is a bottom-up European subsidy scheme for rural development. With LEADER we want to contribute to a liveable and future-proof countryside. Characteristic of LEADER is that the ideas and projects come from the area. Bottom-up, we call it: It was created by the people, not by the government. Associations, groups of residents, entrepreneurs, and partnerships can receive subsidies to implement good ideas. The ideas must fit the purpose of LEADER: a future-proof countryside where you can live, live and work comfortably. We stimulate innovative projects in areas such as climate adaptation, care, quality of life, future-oriented economy and sustainability. You can find more information on the LEADER website (https://www.leaderdrenthe.nl). In Drenthe we have two LEADER areas: East Drenthe and West Drenthe. The entire province falls under the LEADER area, with the exception of the cores of the HEMA cities Hoogeveen, Emmen, Meppel and Assen. This map shows the two LEADER areas.
