Density mapping of Pinna nobilis in the Mar Menor Lagoon 2022

Description

The information contained in this dataset shows the presence/absence, as well as the density of individuals of nacra (Pinna nobilis) per 100 square meters at different points of the Mar Menor lagoon. The area covered by the data provided covers the entire Mar Menor lagoon, located in the SW of the Mediterranean Sea, in the region of Murcia (Spain). This set of information is structured based on density sampling by diving with autonomous diving carried out in the Mar Menor lagoon between November 2019 and May 2022. It is a data set composed of point elements, where each element represents the sampling site. Each object is associated with a series of alphanumeric variables such as the code of the sampling point, the density (in individuals per 100 m2), the number of individuals (total number at that site), and the depth found in each area (in meters). The preparation of this set of geographical information began in December 2019, thanks to the oceanographic campaign "MENOR_PINNA_1119", carried out in November and December 2019 on board the oceanographic vessel "POSIDONIA SEGUNDO". And the database has continued to be updated with the campaigns carried out later "MENOR_PINNA_0620", "MENOR_PINNA_1020", "MENOR_PINNA_0421", "MENOR_PINNA_0921" and "MENOR_PINNA_0522". The geographical information collected is stored in a spatial database. These works have been financed thanks to the LIFE IP INTEMARES Project (LIFE-IP INTEMARES - Integrated, Innovative and Participatory Management for N2000 network in the Marine Environment - LIFE15 IPE/ES/000012). This integrated project has the challenge of laying the foundations to effectively manage the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network and complete the work and progress promoted within the framework of the LIFE + INDEMARES project, which managed to take a great step in terms of declaring new areas.
