Description

FerroForum was founded in December 2019 and declared a non-profit association on January 23, 2020. Its registered office is located at 18 rue de Roedgen, L-3961 Ehlange-sur-Mess. The association is registered in the Register of Commerce and Companies under registration number F 12683 and at the Joint Centre for Social Security under registration number 2020018591. Made up of former steelmakers, civil servants, artists, self-employed, students and retirees of all ages, the FerroFomm association was born from the desire and the need to build a place of encounter, creation and experimentation, research and archiving around the subject of iron and steel. Since 2016, various experiences in the field of industrial heritage and participatory reassignment activities have led a passionate team of 10 amateurs and professionals from the cultural, heritage and crafts field to reflect on the establishment of a place that highlights the know-how around the steel industry. The awarding to Esch-sur-Alzette of the title of “European Capital of Culture 2022” was an opportunity to realise the vision developed upstream. Following the formation of the non-profit association, the team settled in early 2020 in the central workshop of the former factory in Esch-Schifflange, dating back to 1913. In 2020, the FerroForum asbl was one of the three beneficiaries of the Call for Projects “Third Cultural Places” of the National Relief Work Grand Duchess Charlotte, thanks to which she was able to receive start-up financial support. After important work to prepare the central workshop of the former factory in Esch-Schifflange in 2020, it hosted the first public visits in 2021 afm to raise awareness among the general public on the theme of industrial heritage.
