Description

The regional plan for Östersundom covers all key land use themes. The plan covers the area from Östersundom to Sipoonjoki in Helsinki and part of Vantaa’s Western Strait. The area was not approved by the second phase county plan for Uusimaa, and its preparation continued as its own planning process. On 10 May 2021, the Korkein hallinto-oikeus (Supreme Administrative Court) issued a decision stating that the previous decision of the Administrative Court remained in force and that all appeals against the plan were dismissed. The formula thus acquired the force of res judicata. The plan pays special attention to Natura sites, the rail transport solution and the steering of sustainable growth. The key objective is to tie the urban structure to the rail connection and to secure important ecological connections and not to significantly weaken the natural values of Natura sites.
