Annual report of air quality measurements in Austria 2012
Description
The annual report 2012 is based on the measurements of the offices of the state governments and the Federal Environment Agency and gives an overview of the air quality in Austria. In 2012, numerous exceedances of the limit and target values of the Immission Control Act-Air for particulate matter (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) as well as for ozone were registered, occasionally also for nitrogen oxides, benzo(a)pyrene and dust precipitation. The limits and targets for sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, PM2.5, lead, arsenic, cadmium and nickel in PM10 and for benzene were met. Limit value exceedances for NO2 occurred mainly on busy roads, for particulate matter especially in Styria and Vienna. Overall, the air quality measurement for the year 2012 shows a below-average load for almost all pollutants, which is mainly due to the weather conditions in winter.
