Main river basins according to modified Pfafstetter
Description
River basins, within the meaning of Article 16 of the Consolidated Text of the Water Law:
"River basin means the area of land whose surface run-off flows entirely through a series of streams, rivers and possibly lakes into the sea through a single mouth, estuary or delta. The river basin as a resource management unit is considered indivisible"
Similar to point 8.5.1.18 of Annex II to Commission Regulation (EU) of 23 November 2010 implementing Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards
refers to the interoperability of spatial data sets and services:
"River Basin A territory whose surface runoff flows entirely into the sea, through a series of streams, rivers and possibly lakes, at a single mouth, whether estuary or delta."
The basins have been generated from cell MDT 25 x 25 (CEDEX).
The basins obtained have been classified according to the modified Pfafstetter methodology based on the one used in the classification of stretches of rivers in Spain (hydrographic classification).
Geographical information is polygonal of sub-basins flowing from whole rivers, endorheic basins (basins that do not discharge into the sea), inter-basins (coastal basins between river mouths) and related data.
The methodology applied to obtain this information and its application for the hydrographic classification of rivers in Spain according to the Pfafstetter method has been developed by CEDEX. The detailed information is collected in Monograph M-133 'Hydrographic Classification of the Rivers of Spain' edited by the Publications Center Technical General Secretariat. Ministry of Public Works.
The main river basins are formed by aggregation forming a coverage without overlaps, the basins of the rivers that discharge to the sea and the inter-basin basins are represented, they are consistent with the geographical information of the following services:
“Ríos completos clasificados según Pfafstetter modificado”, cada río está asociado a una subcuenca.
“Tramos de ríos de España clasificados según Pfafstetter modificado” al agregarse los tramos de ríos dan lugar a ríos completos.
“Subcuencas de tramos de río clasificadas según Pfafstetter modificado” una subcuenca por cada tramo de río.
“Mapa de Direcciones de Drenaje (MDD) de 25x25 m”
“Superficie de cuenca vertiente a cada celda 25x25 m”
