Hydrodynamic map based on currents and waves for the Zoute Ecotopen Wadden Sea 2017
Description
An ecotope map has been made of the Wadden Sea using 2017 as a map. This salty ecotope map is built up by merging several layers of information from the intertidal area: bottom height map (height and depth), geomorphological map, dry fall duration map, flow velocity map (v-max), wave map (UBOT) and salt map. This hydrodynamic map is based on maximum flow rates and wave data (UBOT). It is a combination of the grids v-max and UBOT. This was necessary because the collapsible model could not process UBOT information in addition to v-max. In order to be able to process wave information in the ecotope map, the grids v-max and UBOT have been merged where all v-max values with less than 80cm/s AND UBOT larger than 25cm/s have been replaced by 100. For example, the hydrodynamics map with values greater than 80 indicates where the v-max is greater than 80 cm/s and UBOT greater than 25 cm/s.
