Description
Classification of the tree species as of 2015 for all tree individuals with growth height >15m. The classes are spruce, fir, pine, larch, Douglas fir, deciduous tree (unspecified) and standing deadwood.
The comprehensive knowledge of the tree species of each tree individual with a growth height of >15m is a much more accurate information compared to the tree species distribution for larger areas, which is usually estimated by statistical methods in forestry. This higher accuracy allows the derivation of a large number of spatial analyses in a hitherto unfamiliar spatial accuracy, such as habitat suitability maps for certain animal species. In combination with the forest structure and vegetation height data from the following years, this tree species classification enables monitoring of natural forest development based on individual trees.
