Proximity to the public green areas of the provincial capitals and municipalities over 100,000 inhabitants of Andalusia
Description
This indicator aims to assess urban environmental quality based on the distribution of public green areas, given that the total data of green areas per inhabitant can mask an unbalanced urban design, that is, that green areas can be concentrated in a certain sector of the city and the rest can be very far from them. The formulation of this indicator follows the methodology established by the European Environment Agency and the expert group on urban environment created by the European Commission in 1991, who with the formulation of the document 'Towards a local sustainability profile. Common European Indicators' aims to encourage European local communities to use common indicators to assess progress made in developing local sustainability.
