Water Information System Glossary

Description

Many actors produce and disseminate information on water and aquatic environments, using more or less technical terms. To facilitate a common language, and for the sake of consistency, the partners of the Water Information System (WIS) have decided to make available the glossary they have prepared together. The current content of this glossary is based on the analysis of about fifty existing glossaries (documents, websites, etc.), and includes about 1000 terms, the consultation of which is free of access. The glossary is evolving: any user can propose to modify or delete certain terms. Proposals are evaluated by a group of users, partners of the EIS.
