Measuring points multimetric macroinvertebrate index

Description

The Strahler Order is used as a physical measure for the transition from upper to lower flow. The underlying idea is that a sudden increase in width or depth mainly occurs after the confluence of some larger watercourses. The Strahler Order thus corresponds to the degree of branching of the watercourse and varies from 1 (at the source) to 8. The artificial watercourses (canals) are considered separately. The smaller the strahler order, the closer to the source and the lower the chance of current-observed pollution sources, and thus the higher the chance of sustainable recovery.
