Description
This partial selection of the photo stock of Julius Gujer offers an insight into the cotton industry location Uster at the end of the 19th century.
An extensive building documentation creates a picture of a changing farming community towards the industrial city. Between Wetzikon and Niederuster, one of the most dense industrialised areas in Europe was built in the 19th century. Events such as Usterbrand or Ustertag shaped not only the history of the municipality, but also the canton and the whole of Switzerland.
