Single coordinate system (YKJ) grid
Description
The uniform coordinate system has been used in biological mappings since the 1970s. Based on the UNJ coordinates, Finland has been divided into square areas, the size of which has been determined according to the needs of the study. The regional division used in the national monitoring of organisms is based on the square mile squares of the uniform coordinate system of 10 km x 10 km. There are also 1 km x 1 km (square-kilometre) and 100 m x 100 m (square hectare) area divisions based on YKJ squares. The data includes a grid consisting of X/Y lines in the uniform coordinate system on four scales (100 m – 100 km) and a symbol describing the position of the grid in the YKJ system.
