Description
The data from the Finnish rock geochemistry database describes the concentrations of primary and trace elements in the Finnish bedrock. Of the 6544 samples, the total and partial concentrations of 57 elements were analysed using several methods (XRF, ICP-MS, ICP-AES, GFAAS). The samples were taken from the bedrock as unchanged as possible by geological drill between 1990 and 1995 and the sample density varies between 1 sample/30 km²-1 sample/120 km². Chemical analyses of the material were carried out between 1992 and 2001. The repeatability of the analytical results and the variation in the analytical level were assessed using 375 replicate pairs. The lowest reliable concentration was determined for each element and analytical method. In addition to chemical concentrations, the database contains spatial data and several geological attributes for each sample. The material and its user manual were published in 2007 and are available on the Geological Survey’s website.
